A year in the life of our Miss Riley

Pup in a Blanket

on January 29, 2015

The extreme cold, combined with being off her pain meds and losing weight, did not make things easy on Riley today. The first walk out this morning was a rough one, and I was worried enough to call the vet. She seemed back to her old self after getting warmed up and fed, and subsequent walks were markedly better, but I wanted to help her more if I could. So I took a plush throw and stuck it in the dryer to warm it up, then cuddled it around her.

Voila! Pup in a blanket!

She really seemed to like it, so I kept it up, warming it up again after each trip outside. Then later, the vet and I chatted and we have some things we’re going to try to boost Riley’s food intake and make her more comfortable while still keeping the insult to her GI tract as small as possible. Fingers crossed…
