A year in the life of our Miss Riley

on November 25, 2014

Princess Miss Riley was exiled to the Elba of the dining room today, as my husband steam-cleaned the living room carpet for the holiday and pending company. He created a barrier in the doorway of the kitchen trash and recycling cans and a chair. At the one point, I was sitting at the kitchen table eating lunch, and I heard the click-clack of her nails on the tile in the hall. And yep, when I got up to check, she was nosing aside one of the cans and trying to get in. She seemed so surprised to be caught — I guess she didn’t realize I could hear her nails. Back to dining room she went, to sulk.
